Frequently asked questions
Q. What does skin needling treat?
A. • deep pitted acne scarring, chicken pox scars, and surgical scars.
• wrinkles on any part of the body especially facial wrinkles.
• sun-damaged skins.
• thin, creepy skin.
Q. Am I eligible for non-laser skin needling / skin resurfacing / skin rejuvenation?
A. I will schedule a free consultation so that I may determine whether or not you are
eligible for the treatment.
Q. Is everyone’s skin suitable for non-laser skin needling?
A. No, you are not eligible for skin needling if you:
• have used accutane in the last 6 months.
• have been diagnosed with dermatitis or an infection in the area to be treated.
• are currently pregnant.
• have the propensity to keloid.
• if TAKING BLOOD THINNING MEDICATION OR CAUSES BLOOD THINNING..
• have abnormal wound healing.
• under medical attention that may be on a high blood pressure medication, heart
medication,
diabetic, or if you are a poor healer.
• have an active herpetic breakout, or has just had an invasive laser treatment.
• had facial fillers or botox within the last 4 months on lips or face.
• had facial surgery in the past 6 months.
• had ‘PERMANENT’ fillers, such as Dermagen or Shark Cartilage injected in the
past 6 months would not be a candidate for Skin Needling.
• have been using corto-steroids on the treatment area, as this thins the skin’s
tissue.
Q. Is there any chance that my facial skin will return back to its original
condition, to the deep pitted scars?
A. No! When the facial skin heals and the deep pitted scars disappear, they will not
return.
Q. How long is the consultation?
A. Approximately 15-30 minutes.
Q. How long will the facial skin needling appointment last?
A. This depends on the area being treated, however the appointment usually lasts
approximately 30-45 minutes.
Q. How does skin needling, no laser, skin rejuvenation work? How often we
can repeat the facial needling treatment?
A. I run special needle over the scars or wrinkles carefully, which will cause bleeding to the
affected area. After it is done, I'll treat the skin with LED light therapy for correct and
faster healing. Skin needling stimulates the body’s natural wound healing reaction to
produce natural collagen and elastin, making the skin smoother, more plump and
tighter. Skin needling is minimally invasive with little damage to the epidermis. Three to
four days after the treatment, you will have an oxygen facial for firmer, smoother
healing.
With a best customized skin care regimen, best chemical
peels, microdermabasion treatments for your skin type , and an oral vitamin intake
immediately before and after treatment, your skin will have a healthy glow, feel softer and
smoother within 3-5 weeks.
We can repeat the needling treatment every 3-4 months, but this depends on the
severity of the scars and the targeted result by the clients . Usually the clients need
only one treatment and with the skin care regimen, microdermabrasion, chemical
peels, and oxygen facials the skin will look smoother and softer and we don't need to
repeat the procedure.
Please note: Very few people will encounter a minimal response to the needling treatment.
Q. Is the skin needling procedure painful?
A. Yes! However, I will apply topical numbing cream about 20-30 minutes prior to the
procedure. Note: You will still experience a minimal amount of pain but it is worth it!
Q. Can I return to work right after the procedure?
A. Depending on the type of work you do, you may or may not be able to return
immediately. Most
Q. What is LED light therapy?
A. NASA Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) light therapy will greatly enhance the natural wound
healing process.
Red and near-infrared light "LED" are wavelengths and able to pass through deeper tissues. Red and near-infrared have beneficial effects on cells by immediately creating more ATP (Adenosine triphosphate, cellular energy ) which is considered by biologists to be the energy currency of life. The positive effects occur in injured cells and it’s non-invasive, safe for all skin types, increase circulation, accelerate skin repair by promoting the production of collagen and elastin to firm and tighten the skin.
There are no side effects, no downtime, no pain, and treatments generally take fewer than 15 minutes to complete.
Q. What should I do before the day of the skin needling / skin resurfacing
procedure?
A. I will recommend the best vitamins for you to take 1-2 weeks prior to your
appointment. You may purchase vitamins from whole food or vitamin shoppe. YOU
NEED TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING THESE RECOMMENDED
VITAMINS.
• You should not take any blood thinning agents such as aspirin or prescription drugs
that may cause blood thinning around 4-5 days before treatment.
• A skin care regimen will be provided 5-7 days prior to the appointment to prep your
skin for the procedure.
• You will be given a microderm and chemical peel treatment before the needling
treatment.
Q. How many sessions will I need?
A. Every one’s skin responds differently and most people will need 2-4 treatments at 8-12
week intervals, depending on the initial condition being treated and the desired
outcome. This time frame allows me to visualize the maximum new collagen deposition
and to assess the success
clients stay home around 3-4 days, therefore I recommend scheduling the procedure
prior to a long weekend.
Q. How will my skin look after the skin resurfacing treatment?
A. Please refer to the photos for a visual reference.
This will vary according to the size of the area being treated
• Mild to moderate redness and sensitivity to the treated area lasting 12 to 48 hours.
• Mild to moderate swelling and possible bruising for 2-3 days.
• Dry and tight skin.
• Varying amounts of flaking/peeling occur approximately 3 days after treatment.
• Slight crusting and/or scabbing in particular areas may develop. If so, please do not
rub or pick the skin as this may lead to scarring.
Q. What are the complications might be associated with skin needling?
A. Possible but uncommon complications:
• If the healing skin is incorrectly cared for it can prolong healing and possibly lead to
infection or scarring.
• Hyperpigmentation (darker areas of pigment on the skin) lasting a few weeks.
Q. What should I do if I bruise easily?
A. I will supply you with special Nouvelle Beaute' anti-bruising products 3-5 days prior to
each skin needling session and few days post procedure.
